New Project Spotlight: Healing Stitches Crochet Blanket
In today’s New Project Spotlight, we’re shining the light on the Healing Stitches crochet blanket designed by Jeanne Steinhilber over at The Crochet Crowd.
The Healing Stitches crochet blanket is a great combination of classic stitches that most advanced beginners would be comfortable with. Once the blanket reaches a certain size, the ‘rounds’ begin taking a little longer to complete, but the stitch work is pretty simple….making it worthy of the name ‘healing stitches’.
What You’ll Need (or what I used)
- 3 ½ skeins of Caron Cotton Cakes (530 yards/skein; 4 weight; 60% cotton/40% acrylic) in the colorway Cracked Pepper
- US-H hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Jeanne’s Healing Stitches crochet pattern over at The Crochet Crowd
My Finished Dimensions: 44” x 44”
I worked this baby up using a self-striping yarn and just let the colors flow….no cutting for me. And I think it turned out great! The pattern was easy to follow….as The Crochet Crowd patterns normally are. While I didn’t really learn any new stitches, it was a relaxing pattern to sit down with and not just do the same stitch for the entire blanket. The change-up in stitch work gives it some boredom control. 🙂 You know how you want a relaxing project to work on but you really don’t want to do the.same.stitch a few thousand times? This is your project. Each row mixes it up a bit without having to stick close to reading instructions.
It went something like this: Oh, I’m double crocheting to the end of each side. Got it. Oh, now I’m doing a shell stitch. Got it. Oh, now we’re doing a V-stitch or a X-stitch. Got it. And of course Jeanne does a wonderful job of explaining the special stitches, so no worries there. And there are video tutorials at the link above as well.
Final Thoughts on Healing Stitches Crochet Blanket
Finishing this blanket makes me want to look into the Healing Stitches II blanket to see what that’s all about. Just browsing the pictures, I’m sensing it may be more of a rectangular shape than a square. But I haven’t dug into it yet. Once I do, I’ll let you know. Thank you to Jeanne Steinhilber and The Crochet Crowd for sharing the Healing Stitches pattern.
